Vanua Levu Formally known as Sandalwood Island, Vanua Levu is Fiji’s second largest island located just north of the larger Viti Levu. Once populated by escaped convicts from Australia, the island is now the center for Fiji’s sugar cane industry. Surrounded by coral reefs, Vanua Levu offers great yachting and diving along with rugged mountains with spectacular sights accessible by car or hiking. A must see is The Namena Marine Reserve, made up of a network of marine protected areas, located between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.
